Aston Villa return to action with Ollie Watkins leading the line. He’s had a very short pre-season after going all the way to the Euros final with England but will be raring to go and build on his brilliant 2023/24.
Morgan Rogers has been one to watch so far this summer and also starts in east London, while it is £50m recruit Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans together in midfield.
New recruits Ian Maatsen and Ross Barkley are on the bench.
New West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen starts for the hosts, while summer signing Guido Rodriguez starts in midfield and new centre back Max Kilman is in defence.
