Big Brother House 9: The Nobodys, the Wannabes and the Clout Chasers

The Big Brother Naija reality show is all about fame and fortunes. Nothing more, nothing less. No housemate ever came bigger than they left.

Even housemates like Kiddwaya who came as a billionaire heir didn’t come with the kind of fame he left with.

No one ever did. And none of these 14 pairs of housemates pull enough weights to cause any commotion, at least not yet, maybe after the 71 days of the roller-coaster experience. Who knows?

Right now we have been landed with 28 Housemates streamlined into a tag teams of 14 partners. What an innovation by Big Brother. It smacks so much of NWE (New Wrestling Entertainment) where anything can go wrong – and will go wrong. Biggy has got his work cut out for him this time around. But he would be placated by the fact that he is not managing anything special as the lot could barely throw punches.

Nobodys

Is not Potpourri’s wish to pull anyone down but seriously none of the 28 Housemates is a big hot yet on social media, particularly, Instagram where all the steeze and rizz reside.

With the exception of Streeze, the pair of Toby Forge and Mayor Frosh who had 289 thousands and 139 thousand followers respectively, coming to the House, all others had less than a hundred thousand community of followers. These are their stats less than 24 hours of coming into the Biggy’s House.

Nelira, made up of the pair of Nelly and Anita had 79.7k and 58.3K apiece. WanniXhandi, a tag team of Wanni and Handi have 53.4K and 36.4k respectively . The Mbadiwe Twins who are the first Head of House the Season 9 had 27.1K and 21. 3K each.

The Tami team of Toyosi and Dami had 3,219 and 3,085 respectively. Action Ben and Tjay known as Beta had 19.2k and 32.4 each. Shatoria consisting of Shaun and Victoria had 26.6K and 51K apiece. DJ Flo had 1.1k and his partner, Rhuthee with 7,602 making up the Floursh.

The Doublekay pair made up of KellyRrae and Kassie had 6,296 and 9,755 each while the Radicals consisting of Fairme David and Michky had 15.1K and 5,884 respectively. For the Aces, Topher had 13.6K and Sooj 3,932; For Chekas, Chizoba had 1, 527 and Onyeka 4,205; For Ndi Nne, Chinne had 5,249 and Nne 8,878 while Zinne, made up of Zion and Chinwe had 5,324 and 7,819 followers respectively.

Wannabes

All the Housemates came into Biggy’s House of “No Loose Guard” Season 9 last Sunday with guns blazing and arms akimbo with glazed eyes stuffed with dreams. It is nothing new. The great speeches, the unquenchable confidence and the bustling energy is all too cliche, and never fooled anyone. The prize money of N100 million is all that matters even though there are scraps here and there to pick.

Money is always the key, but it doesn’t always unlock the doors to true success. BBNaija is a place as good as any to find that out fast enough. Winning the Season may put money in your pocket, a good head start for a sprint but life after BBNaija is a marathon that belongs to those who can go the distance.

Tobi Bakre didn’t win his season but he is arguably one of the finest actors in Noywood right now. The same applies to Bisola, Tacha, who was even ostracized by Biggy, and a couple of others, including Ebuke who has done fine by himself as the unreplaceable host of the show for years now. Needless to State for the umpteen time that the show is a launching pad that could catapult you anywhere depending on where you choose to land.

Like other seasons, the house is jam packed with a collection of fine young men and women, with ages ranging from 20s to 30s. But all are still Wannabes coming to their own. Forget how handsome or beautiful you are, or how well built or shaped you are, or even how well spoken you are,, you just have to play the game right by finding a niche, that can attract a community of faithfuls. Every winner did and those who struck gold after the show did too.

Clout Chasers

It may sound awkward that some Housemates came to the show just for the hell of it. They know they don’t stand a chance in the least to go the distance. So, what do they do? They loaf around, make friends with everyone for validation and do pretty much just about anything to get in everyone’s good book. A bad idea? It actually worked for some past Housemates and may very well work for some “No Loose Guard” lot who appears to have a good supply of Clout Chasers.

Contrary to what many Nigerians think, Clout chasing is neither derogatory or negative. Some many Nigwrian celebrities who are presumably doing well on account of their social media environment and prosperity started on that footing. And already, some “No Loose Guard” Housemates are towing that line. Clout Chaser or not, it is all about who wins at the end of the day.

The “No Loose Guard” season is a unique one in its very composition. For the first time, we 2 pairs of identical twins, both males and females. That looks like a recipe combustible concoction, depending on how these pairs roll their dices. Apart from the twins we can see some weird pairs too who can stir things up, both males and females. We could be in for a royal rumble, Naija style in a big way.

Soon enough all the nobodys would get in the groove and before long become somebody’s. The wannabes may be the stars of the future if the stars align by them and the Clout Chasers may really be calling the shots in no distant time. Nonetheless, all brings to mind the Murphy’s Law: “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong
