A former member of the Legacy Group of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former Commissioner that represented Edo State in the Public Complaints Commission, PCC, Oladele Bankole-Balogun has said that the defection of people like him and others from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC, has now brought the political gladiators in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area and Edo North together. He said move would make the victory of the APC in the area easy.

Speaking with Vanguard in Benin City, yesterday, following the recent flag-off of the APC campaign in the area that now sees him in the same party with former political opponents like the current member representing Akoko-Edo in the House of Representatives and former Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Peter Apatasson; former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Kabiru Adjoto; former Chief of Staff to Governor Godwin Obaseki, Taiwo Akerele; the Senator that represented Edo North in the Senate between 2011 and 2014, Domingo Obende, and Chief Sunny Okomayin and his supporters, he said delivering the area for the APC would be easy.

Besides, Bankoloe-Balogun popularly called Otienete said the Obaseki administration has not done enough in terms of infrastructure and human capital development for Akoko-Edo LGA and “strongly” believes that these would be reversed under Senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon Dennis Idahosa, as the APC governor and deputy governor of the state.

His words: “The coming together of all the political forces in Akoko-Edo and Edo North has significant implications in this election. Unfortunately for the PDP and their so called leaders, they have totally mismanaged the goodwill of the people of Akoko-Edo, Edo North and even Edo State in general. The situation we are facing right now is where there is going to be a landslide victory as a result of the coalition of forces against this retrogressive PDP government.
