President Bola Tinubu has been urged to resist the temptation of influencing the Edo State governorship election in favour of any candidate.
Mr Felix Oni, the Coordinator of Eghosa Grammar School Old Boys Vanguard for the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party, Dr Asue Ighodalo and Barr. Osarodion Ogie, made the call, weekend.
Speaking during a Free Medical Outreach organised by the group in Ehor ward 1 Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State, Oni said for the President to cement his legacy he should allow the people of the state to decide who governs them.
Oni said: “To cement your legacy and ensure a positive place in history, refrain from compromising the electoral process. Resist the temptation to manipulate the Edo State gubernatorial election in favour of any party’s candidate, who lacks competence and capacity compared to others known to all across party lines.
“A free and fair election in Edo State, where the people’s choice prevails, will be a significant achievement for your administration. The local and international communities will honour and praise you for it.”
Oni noted that the people of the state would appreciate if democratic principles were upheld, the people’s will respected and a culture of fairness and transparency fostered.
“By doing so, you’ll demonstrate leadership and secure a lasting legacy. Major in the majors, Mr. President, and let the people’s voice be heard,” he added.
